NORAD F-22s intercept Russian bombers west of mainland Alaska

2 F-22 Raptors positively identified and intercepted 2 Russian Tu-95 “Bears” at 10 PM on September 11th. The Su-95 “Bears” were accompanied by 2 Su-35 “Flanker” Russian fighter jets. According to NORAD the bombers/fighters remained in international airspace and didn’t enter United States or Canadian sovereign airspace. It’s typical at this point for Russians to tease the United States a bit here and there with these flights, and will likely always happen. No harm, no foul in this situation considering they remained in international airspace.
